Abstract

Abstract The purposes of research were to; 1) develop phonics Spider Map posters for practicing English vocabulary pronunciation for grade 3 students, 2) compare the students’ pronunciation ability before and after receiving practices with the phonics posters, and 3) examine the students’ satisfaction over using the phonics Spider Map posters. The research samples were 38 students purposively selected from Bansamliam Municipal School under the Office of Nakhon Khonkaen Municipality. The study was conducted in the second semester of academic year 2017. The research instruments were the constructed Phonics Spider Map posters materials and a questionnaire used for determining the satisfaction. The data were analyzed statistically for means, standard deviation, and t-test was applied to compare the scores from the pre-test and posttest. The results were as follows:

1. Phonic Spider Map poster materials for drilling grade 3 students’ skill of vocabulary pronunciation was at 82.58/82.19 efficiency criterion. 2. The pronunciation ability of the students practiced with using the Phonics Spider Map poster materials before and after practices with the phonics Spider Map posters was significantly different at 0.01 level showing that the posttest mean score was higher than the pre-test one. 3. The students were satisfied was at level 4.39. They were high level of satisfaction with the Phonics Spider Map poster materials used for practicing vocabulary pronunciation overall at a high level in terms of the appearances including use of attractive letters, colors of words, and pictures showing meaning of the words. The research findings showed that creating learning materials for vocabulary pronunciation practice helped the students gain better pronunciation of English, This was proved to be useful, which could be a model for other material development in English learning and instruction.
