Tips for Candidates

• Know the syllabus area well. Study materials from your teacher training class for this. Use other materials too such as books (e.g. The TKT Course) and websites to get as broad and deep a knowledge of the syllabus area as possible.
• Do the Follow-Up Activities, Reflections and the Discovery Activities in The TKT Course to fully understand the meaning for the classroom of ELT concepts and terms.
• Look at the TKT Glossary and check you know the meaning of the ELT terms it contains. Check too that you can see how the ideas behind these terms might influence the classroom.
• Work with sample papers and tasks so that you understand how the task types work and what they require candidates to do.
• Do a practice paper to make sure you work at the right speed to finish the paper in the time allowed, and to check that you know how to complete the answer sheet correctly.
